Good practice consultation and engagement

This page includes some examples of some of our recent engagement or consultation work, showing how BCCG's decision-making has been enhanced by talking and listening to local people.

September 2018 - Recruiting Patient and Public Representatives to the PPEC

In September 2018 we had two vacancies on our Patient and Public Engagement Committee (PPEC) so ran a recruitment drive to find some new members.

July to August 2018 - Putnoe Walk-in Centre Consultation

In the summer of 2018 we ran a consultation on a proposal to close the Walk-in Centre at Putnoe Medical Centre and move walk-in services to the new Urgent Treatment Centre on the South Wing site at Bedford Hospital.

July 2018 - Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)

In July 2018, we held a focus group so patients could share their views on a new Urgent Treatment Centre that was being developed.

March to May 2018 – The Village Medical Centre

Working with NHS England, Bedfordshire CCG needed to re-procure and appoint a new provider to deliver GP services at the Village Medical Centre, Great Denham.  Between March and May 2018, we engaged with patients registered at the practice to find out how they would prefer to access services at the Village Medical Centre and how they felt services could be improved.

January 2018 - present.    Co-production to Resdesign Maternity Services in Bedfordshire

As part of the BLMK (Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes) Local Maternity System, we established a Co-production Steering Group comprising of patient and public representatives, Maternity Voice Partnerships (MVPs), clinicians, childbirth groups, mental health groups. hospitals, disability groups and local Healthwatch.  One of the first pieces of work to come from the steering group was the survey 'The Big Question' asking local women about their experiences of maternity services

Please click here for an overview of the Co-Production Steering Group and approach to engagement.

October 2017 - Patient Survey on Extended Access in Primary Care

In October 2017 we conducted a survey asking patients and members of the public their views on GP extended access.

The results of the survey were used by the primary care team to help them design the Extended Access Service to meet the demands of patients which went live in September 2018
